UASt sequences drive expression of a Golgi-retained form of fj (comprises the Tag:Golgi(hGALNT3) Golgi retention signal fused via a linker glycine residue to amino acids 109-583 of fj).
eye | dorsal, with Scer\GAL4bi-omb-Gal4
fj109-583.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\GALNT3; Scer\GAL4bi-omb-Gal4 flies have shorter wings with anterior and posterior crossveins closer together than wild-type. These flies have eyes with several rows of inverted ommatidia at their dorsal and ventral edges. This ommatidial inversion phenotype is seen even in a fjd1/fjd1 background. fj109-583.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\GALNT3; Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI somatic clones in the eye cause non-autonomous inversions of ommatidia on the equatorial side of the clone, sometimes extending several rows from the clone.
Like ds38k/dsUAO71 flies, ds38k/dsUAO71; fj109-583.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\GALNT3; Scer\GAL4bi-omb-Gal4 flies have inverted ommatidia scattered throughout their eyes.
