Eip71CDEY05753 mutant adults exhibit reduced susceptibility to infection with Vibrio cholerae: their post-infection survival rate is significantly increased compared to wild-type controls (despite comparable bacterial loads). Infected Eip71CDEY05753 mutant flies show normal lipid droplet accumulation in the fat body and enterocytes and the intestinal stem cell division is equally suppressed in control and the mutant flies (be the flies infected with either the wt or the Dgr;&gcvT strain of V. cholerae).
