Detailed Description

bonde03675 mutants exhibit loss of synthesis of the CH503 pheromone.

Given a choice between bonde03675 mutant males and males perfumed with the pheromone CH503, females do not exhibit a statistically significant preference for the perfumed fly.

Wild type males exposed to bonde03675 male rivals before mating produce fewer progeny. Duration of copulation is unchanged from controls. Perfuming the bonde03675 males with synthetic CH503 pheromone increases fertility slightly but does not rescue it completely.
