ATP8Bf05203 mutant flies display reduced adult survival rate.

ATP8Bf05203 mutants show defects in cVA (11-cis-vaccenyl acetate) perception.

Expression of Scer\GAL4Or67d-GAL4-2>ATP8BE351Q.Scer\UAS fails to rescue the defects in cVA (11-cis-vaccenyl acetate) perception of ATP8Bf05203 mutants.

ATP8Bf05203 homozygous or ATP8Bll2/ATP8Bf05203 trans-heterozygous flies show a reduced electroantennogram response to most tested odorants known to excite a variety of different ORN classes. The response to CO[[2]] is unaffected however.

ATP8Bf05203 homozygous flies show a reduced electroantennogram response to odorants, over a range of concentrations, specifically in Or-expressing olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs), and not in IR- or GR-expressing ORNs. Consistent with these observations, responses from gustatory neurons on the labellum to the tastants sucrose and caffeine is unaffected in ATP8Bf05203 flies.

No difference is observed in the length or shape of the dendrites in antennal sections from ATP8Bf05203 mutants.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Responses to farnesol are moderately reduced in Scer\GAL4Or67d-GAL4-2>Or83cScer\UAS.cRa transgenic flies in an ATP8Bf05203 mutant background compared with transgenic expression in a wild-type genetic background.

Overexpression of Or67dScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU restores cVA pheromone detection in ATP8Bf05203 mutants.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Expression of Btau\ATP8A2Scer\UAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4Or67d-GAL4-2 completely suppresses the ATP8Bf05203 mutant cVA-perception defects.
