Mutant larvae have a smaller ring gland than normal. The lymph glands have many lobes and may be smaller than normal or normal in size. The salivary glands are sometimes melanised. The brain hemispheres are smaller than normal. A portion of the alimentary canal posterior to the junction between the mid- and hind-gut is melanised, as are the garland cells. The imaginal discs are missing.
