Description

Construct contains two overlapping regions of Hr78 separated by a 100 bp spacer; one region is an inverted repeat of the last 1004 bp of the Hr78 gene. The Hr78 sequences are expressed under the control of UASt regulatory sequences.

      Expression of Hr78dsRNA.Scer\UAS driven by the constitutively expressed Scer\GAL4da.G32 results in 81% of larvae examined displaying tracheal defects, including necrosis. The same phenotype is seen when Hr78dsRNA.Scer\UAS expression is driven by Scer\GAL4btl.PS, a tracheal specific driver, although only 13% of larvae are affected. Expression of Hr78dsRNA.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4Dll-md23 does not result in tracheal defects.
