Imprecise excision of the P{EP} element leading to a deletion from -698bp to -32bp upstream of the translation start site. Expression of the pyx-PB transcript isoform is prevented but expression of the pyx-PA transcript isoform is unaffected.

      pyxDf4 mutants behave like wild-type controls regarding negative geotaxis behaviour.

      pyxDf4 mutants have similar temperature preferences to wild-type flies, although their preferred mean temperature (24.80C) is lower than that of wild-type flies (25.30C). Significantly more pyxDf4 mutants are paralyzed within 3 minutes of being placed on an aluminum block of 400C than wild-type flies.
