        Syncytial embryos derived from homozygous larp1 mutants contain abnormally-shaped nuclei that are irregularly distributed and undergo non-synchronous mitoses. These nuclei frequently display poorly condensed mitotic chromosomes, anaphase bridges, aberrant spindle polarity and abnormal centrosome numbers.
