Expression of Hsp26Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PB at either 25 or 29oC in male flies results in an increase in mean lifespan compared to controls. Expression of Hsp26Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 at 29oC in male flies results in an increase in mean lifespan compared to controls. Expression of Hsp26Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PB in male flies results in an increased resistance to paraquat and heat stress compared to controls, and a marginal increase in starvation resistance compared to controls. Females expressing Hsp26Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PB show a reduction in fecundity compared to controls, although there is no significant difference in hatching between eggs derived from these females and those derived from controls.
