Rcd5^c07041/Rcd5^c00114 transheterozygotes exhibit severe growth defects, and although they survive for an extended period in the third instar, they fail to pupariate.

Rcd5^c07041/Rcd5^rG166 transheterozygotes exhibit severe growth defects, and although they survive for an extended period in the third instar, they fail to pupariate.

Only very small Rcd5^c07041 mutant clones of a few cells could be recovered when clones are induced in wild-type animals. However, in a minute background, larger clones can be recovered, indicating that clones are lost through cell competition.
