      park2 mutants exhibit reduced longevity, a drooped wing phenotype, locomotor dysfunction, and muscle degeneration, accompanied by apoptosis. Feeding L-DOPA to park2 mutant flies significantly restores the climbing ability (up to approximately 70% of the unfed wild-type control), whereas D-DOPA has no effect.
