      Expression of ftzLRAAA.YPWM.Scer\UAS, under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PS, causes a homeotic transformation of the T1 segment to T2, as can be seen by the reduction of the T1 beard. These embryos also show a head involution failure. Expression of ftzLRAAA.YPWM.Scer\UAS, under the control of Scer\GAL4Dll-md23, causes a strong leg-to-antennal transformation. The arista is completely transformed to a tarsus identity. The ectopic leg encompasses tarsal segments 3-5 and the distal tibia, including an apical bristle that is characteristic of the T2 leg.
