      Bristle development is defective in acsbm mutants. Of the thoracic macrochaetes, the posterior dorsocentral is completely absent, while the anterior dorsocentral and posterior supra-alar are frequently missing. The microchaetes are missing from the posterior part of the thorax and the density of the microchaetes is reduced in the anterior, particularly at the position of muscles DVM2 and DVM3.
