pipC14/Df(3L)pipeA13 transheterozygotes are semi-lethal, producing only 33% of the expected number of progeny. These progeny eclose an average of 3 days later than wild-type flies and are small. In contrast to wild-type embryos, there are no detectable sulfated glycans in the salivary glands of pipC14 embryos.
