Expression of Sp7dsRNA.Scer\UAS in crystal cells under the control of Scer\GAL4lz-gal4 results in reduced hemolymph clot melanization.
Flies expressing Sp7dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4tub show a severe reduction in the amount of melanisation produced at a wound site (flies were pricked with a needle dipped in a concentrated mixture of E.coli and M.luteus) compared to wild-type flies.
Spontaneous melanisation of the hemolymph (assayed by dissecting larvae and exposing them to air) is much lower in flies expressing Sp7dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4unspecified larvae than in wild type.
Used to study the phenotypic consequences of dsRNA interference (RNAi) of the Sp7 gene.
