      Metaphases from Su(var)2-HP2Q2259X/Df(2R)B11 larval brains show a number of abnormalities (frequency of cells showing each phenotype is indicated in parentheses), such as abnormal chromosome condensation (42.6%), hypercondensed chromosomes (3.1%), hyperploid/polyploid cells (6.2%), chromosome breaks (5.4%) and precocious sister-chromatid segregation (27.9%).

      Su(var)2-HP2Q2259X/Df(2R)B11 larvae have abnormal polytene chromosomes which are smaller than normal, underreplicated and break more easily than wild-type polytene chromosomes.
