Expression of SxlM3.Scer\UAS, in the wing disc, under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 results in an elevated mitotic index (as illustrated by BrdU and phospho-His3 staining).
Expression of SxlM3.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 results in wing disc overgrowth, not only in the anterior compartment, but also in the posterior compartment, indicating a non-autonomous function.
Scer\GAL4ap-md544, SxlM3.UAS, hhC84S.UAS has lethal | pupal stage phenotype
Scer\GAL4ap-md544, SxlM3.UAS, hhC84S.UAS has wing phenotype
Scer\GAL4ap-md544, SxlM3.UAS, hhC84S.UAS has wing disc phenotype
Scer\GAL4ap-md544, SxlM3.UAS, hhC84S.UAS has wing cell phenotype
Male and female wing discs, when expressing SxlM3.Scer\UAS and hhC84S.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 show a change in their normal proportions that is suggestive of enlargement. All male discs show the posterior en signal with an anterior extension, with the rest of the anterior compartment relatively normal in size. In females, the anterior compartment is larger than the posterior, frequently by almost twofold.
Co-expressing SxlM3.Scer\UAS and hhC84S.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 is essentially lethal to both males and females; rare female escapers have misshapen wings with bubbles and a narrowing of the L3 and L4 intervein region (this is also observed in hhC84S.Scer\UAS-expressing flies).
