Expression of Ork1Scer\UAS.FL.cLa in the whole cardiac tube during larval stages, driven by Scer\GAL4NP1029, results in a complete arrest of heart beating and a totally dilated cardiac tube. Heart beating can be restored during electrical stimulation, indicating that cardiomyocytes remain excitable and have not been affected in their contractility. Recording action potentials from membrane cardiomyocytes of Scer\GAL4NP1029>Ork1Scer\UAS.FL.cLa larvae shows that the loss of automatic cardiac activity results from a hyperpolarization of the menbrane.
