Flies expressing Or42aScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4Or22a.8197 in a Df(2L)dp-79b/Dp(2;2)dppd21 background (called Δhalo) show a large increase in electrophysiological response to either 2-ethylpyrazine or 2-methylpyrazine.

High concentrations of ethyl acetate elicit a strong response in flies expressing Or42aScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4Or22a.8197 in a Df(2L)dp-79b/Dp(2;2)dppd21.

Transgenic flies expressing Or42aScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4Or22a.8197 in a 'Δhalo' genetic background (Df(2L)dp-79b/Dp(2;2)dppd21) show spontaneous activity of olfactory receptor neurons ORN-A and B (large and small spikes) when challenged with odorants. However, the maximal response of the ab3A neuron to ethyl butyrate is much lower than that recorded from wild-type flies.

Expression of Or42aScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 rescues the odor response defects seen in pdm3f00828 mutants.

Expression of Or42aScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC in the 'empty neuron system' (in which Scer\GAL4Or22a.8010 is used as the driver and flies are homozygous for a synthetic deletion created by combining Df(2L)dp-79b and Dp(2;2)dppd21 on to the same chromosome) confers an odor response to the mutant ab3A neuron.
