UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an altered form of Hsap\PABPN1 which encodes 17 alanine residues following the initial methionine, instead of the wild-type number of 10, and which lacks the coiled-coil domain (amino acid residues 123-154 have been deleted).

Flies expressing Hsap\PABPN1ΔCLD.17ala.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW show wing position phenotypes. These flies also show indirect flight muscle defects, including altered nuclear morphology and the formation of nuclear inclusions.
