UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an altered form of Hsap\PABPN1 which encodes 17 alanine residues following the initial methionine, instead of the wild-type number of 10, and which lacks a proximal region of the C-terminal domain (amino acid residues 263-279 have been deleted).

Flies expressing Hsap\PABPN1ΔC-term.17ala.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW show wing position phenotypes. These flies also show indirect flight muscle defects, including altered nuclear morphology and the formation of nuclear inclusions.
