UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Males expressing saturnGD4613 under the control of Scer\GAL4bam.PU are semi-sterile: when mated with wild-type females the number of progeny is strongly reduced and the seminal vesicles of the knock-down males contain less than half of mature individualized sperm compared to controls (but the sperm motility appears unaffected). The number of sperm produced by the knock-down males and transferred to the female reproductive tract is reduced and its storage rate in the seminal receptacle is much smaller relative to controls.
Adults expressing CG32141GD4613 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
