Expression of Lztr1GD4339 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 leads to decreased sleep only during night-time; males also show more but shorter day-time and night-time sleep bouts and decreased night-time motion bout activity, and recover lost sleep upon sleep deprivation although less that controls.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4nSyb.PS does not affect total sleep but leads to more but shorter night-time sleep bouts.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Rdl.PS leads to more but shorter night-time sleep bouts.

Adulthood-only expression under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.Switch.PO (induced by RU486 treatment) leads to abnormal night-time sleep - decreased sleep time and more but shorter night-time sleep bouts.

Expression of Lztr1GD4339 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI leads to extra veins and vein tissue compared to controls.

Adults expressing CG3711GD4339 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) can show significantly reduced avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies, depending on the particular P{GD4339} insertion line used.
