The expression of Rab8^GD12520 under the control of Scer\GAL4^tj.PU, in combination with the expression of Dicer-2 for efficient RNAi, leads to the deposition of basement membrane components on both basal and apical extracellular sides of the follicular epithelium, as compared to only on the basal side in controls.

Adults expressing Rab8^GD12520 under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2^Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
