Scer\GAL4^da.PU bsf^NIG.10302R flies show: a delay in pupal development, with only 15% of pupae eclosing; a significantly reduced climbing ability; female flies weigh less; continuous crossings result in no offspring; and their life span is drastically reduced compared with controls, with most flies surviving less than 30 days.

Adults expressing bsf^GD12587 under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2^Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
