The expression of mRpL40^GD16738 under the control of Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PU increases the complexity of the third instar larval neuromuscular junction: increased total branch length and increased bouton number; the amplitude of evoked excitatory junctional potentials is increased.

The expression of mRpL40^GD16738 under the control of Scer\GAL4^Ddc.PL or Scer\GAL4^GMR51B08 leads to decreased total sleep time, with more but shorter sleep bouts.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4¹⁴⁰⁷ results in loss of neuroblasts in the larval brain associated with decreased size of the remaining neuroblasts.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4¹⁴⁰⁷ results in a reduction in the average size of neuroblasts together with shorter neuroblast lineages (less daughter cells per neuroblast) in the larval brain compared to controls.
