93% of stage 17 embryos expressing wusGD3402 under the control of Scer\GAL4btl.PS show defects in the transition from luminal liquid-clearance to air-filled airways. Earlier developmental defects such as elongated tube size or luminal protein clearance are also seen. Very few defects are seen at either 18[o]C or 25[o]C. When embryos are grown at 18[o]C and shifted to 29[o]C at stage 16 76% of embryos show air-filling defects, but the tube size and airway protein clearance defects are not detected.
Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in lethality before the pupal stage.
