Expression is first observed in the cytoplasm of early germline cysts. In germarium region 3, expression shifts from the cytoplasmic to the nucleus of germline cells where it persists until the end of oogenesis. Expression is observed in follicle cells beginning in germarium region 2b.

Hemizygous and A2bp1CC00511/A2bp1f02600 females are fertile but a large fraction of their egg chambers contain 31 nurse cells and one oocyte. The extra nurse cells in A2bp1CC00511 egg chambers arise from an extra round of mitosis prior to the egg chambers pinching off from the germarium.
