      Females in which the "tag-mediated loss of function" method has been used to knock down expression of the Pabp2 gene (the females express Avic\GFPdsRNA.shRNA.Scer\UAS.P\T.1 under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 which produces shRNA that targets the Avic\GFP-tagged Pabp2CC00380 transcript) show almost complete loss of germline cells. The few remaining germline cells show signs of nuclear fragmentation.
