      Germline cells are lost from the ovary in Spt6CA07692 females in which the "tag-mediated loss of function" method has been used to knock down expression of the Spt6 gene (the females express either Avic\GFPdsRNA.shRNA.Scer\UAS.P\T.1, Avic\GFPdsRNA.shRNA.Scer\UAS.P\T.2 or Avic\GFPdsRNA.shRNA.Scer\UAS.P\T.3 under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 which produce shRNA that targets the Avic\GFP-tagged Spt6CA07692 transcript). Apoptosis is not triggered in the germline in these females.
