opatsl25/opa12.3 flies that have been shifted to the restrictive temperature postembryonically show ventral head capsule defects as adults. The eye is round rather than oval, the sensory vibrissae on the ventral side of the eye are bunched, the maxillary palps are missing, reduced or duplicated, and gena tissue appears to be missing. Occasional antennal defects are seen.

In dppTgR46.1/+; opa12.3/+ flies the ventral head is disrupted, the eye is round rather than oval, the sensory vibrissae on the ventral side of the eye are bunched, the maxillary palps are missing, reduced or duplicated, and gena tissue appears to be missing.
