Expression of HimScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4twi.PB results in large gaps or holes in the musculature in embryos. Muscle development proceeds similarly to wild type in these embryos up to stage 13, but disrupted differentiation is seen at stage 15 and there is increased cell death at stage 16.
Development of the musculature is inhibited in embryos expressing HimScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4how-24B, and many of the residual muscles have abnormal morphology.

Co-expression of Mef2Scer\UAS.cBa partially rescues the inhibition of muscle development seen in embryos expressing HimScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4twi.PB and also partially rescues the lethality of these animals.
The loss of muscles that is seen in embryos expressing HimScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4twi.PB is suppressed if the embryos are also mutant for groE48/Df(3R)Espl22.
