Vps155 somatic clones in the follicular epithelium exhibit dysplasia-like defects, namely a high frequency of epithelium multilayering and mild cell polarity defects (i.e. abnormal expression of the adherent junction components Arm and E-cad, and occasional overlap between the apical marker aPKC and the basolateral marker Dlg), as compared to controls.

Vps155 somatic clones also disrupt the larval eye-antennal epithelium, as compared to controls.

Homozygous adult mushroom body gamma neuron clones show an axon pruning defect.

ird11/ird15 mutant fat body cells are smaller than in wild-type controls at 72 hours after egg laying. However, these cells appear the same size as in controls by 96 hours after egg laying.

ird11/ird15 flies show significantly reduced survival compared to control flies after injection with either E.coli or M.luteus.

Vps155, Lkb1X5 double mutant somatic clones in the follicular epithelium exhibit multilayering at a frequency similar to that of Lkb1X5 single clones rather than the high frequency observed in Vps155 single clones. The mis-localization of cell polarity markers presented by Vps155 homozygous follicle cell clones is also suppressed by Lkb1X5 homozygosity in the clones.

The induction of larval eye-antennal disc clones both homozygous for Vps155 and expressing Ras85DV12.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI leads to an enhanced eye-antennal disc tumor phenotype, as compared to clones only expressing Ras85DV12.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI, and leads to delayed pupation, as compared to controls. Both these phenotypes are suppressed by additional Lkb1X5 homozygosity in the clones.
