      Mosaic flies with eye and head capsules largely homozygous for bunA-Q922X (generated using the eyFLP/FRT technique) have small heads ("pinhead" phenotype). The number of ommatidia in these mosaics is significantly reduced compared to wild type and the mutant photoreceptors are smaller than the surrounding heterozygous cells.

      Homozygous clones in the wing disc always contain fewer cells than their corresponding wild-type sister clones. The homozygous clones consistently covers a smaller area than the wild-type sister clone, and this reduction in clone area is slightly more pronounced than the reduction in cell number.
