Contains a DNA segment from the Dpy-30L2 locus, with 3.1kb of upstream and 3.6kb of downstream sequences. The coding sequence of YFP with its genuine stop codon followed by the SV40 polyadenylation/transcription termination sequence has been inserted in frame immediately following the ATG start codon of Dpy-30L2. The insertion of YFP results in a disruption of the Dpy-30L2 reading frame as well as a deletion of 40 amino acids from the coding region.
Expressed in elongated spermatids at the "canoe-like" stage but not during the early stages of spermatogenesis or in mature sperm.
The P{FRT(Dpy-30L2.YFP)} construct is a targeting construct for disruption of the Dpy-30L2 gene by homologous recombination and can also be used to study the expression of YFP under the influence of the Dpy-30L2 regulatory sequences in the construct.
