Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion resulting in a partial deletion of Alr sequences.
Homozygous larvae undergo developmental arrest very early in the third larval instar and have no imaginal discs.
The overgrowth phenotype that is seen in leg discs after induction of wgAct5C.PS expression in the early third larval instar is strongly suppressed if the animals are also carrying Alr2/+. A blastema is still formed at the normal time in these animals, but it is smaller than that seen in animals in which wgAct5C.PS expression has been induced in an otherwise wild-type background.
