Expression of Nf-YBKK107815 mediated by Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU, Scer\GAL4ey.PU, Scer\GAL4en.PU or Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in no detectable phenotype.

Expression of one copy of Nf-YBKK107815 via Scer\GAL4GMR.PS results in abnormal eye morphology, exhibited as a rough eye. Phenotypic severity increases when two copies of Nf-YBKK107815 are expressed: many ommatidia lack their hexagonal shape and bristles are missing.

Scer\GAL4GMR.PS Nf-YBKK107815 eye imaginal discs show a significant increase in cell death signals in the region posterior to the morphogenetic furrow.

In contrast to wild type, eye discs carrying Scer\GAL4GMR.PS and two copies of Nf-YBKK107815 display BrdU incorporation posterior to the second mitotic wave, indicating a delay in S phase and/or ectopic S phases. This DNA synthesis is followed by delayed/ectopic cell division.

Scer\GAL4GMR.PS-mediated expression of Nf-YBKK107815 specifically inhibits differentiation of R7 photoreceptor cells in eye imaginal discs.
