The expression of CSN1b^JF02612 under the control of Scer\GAL4^{SPARC-MI00329-GAL4} (and Dicer-2, for a more efficient RNAi) in the larval fat body induces defective secretion, including intracellular matrix material, as shown by the retention of both secr.GFP and Vkg.GFP.

Expression of CSN1b^JF02612 in the cyst cells of the testes under the control of any of Scer\GAL4^tj-NP1624, Scer\GAL4^A3.eya or Scer\GAL4^c784 (limited to a week from eclosion onwards using Scer\GAL80^ts.αTub84B) results in loss of the net-like cytoplasmic extensions that usually surround the germline cells.

Animals expressing CSN1b^JF02612 under the control of Scer\GAL4^Dll-md23 have reduced legs, aristae and sex combs. Wings are hooded.
