Adult eyes in which all photoreceptor cells are homozygous for SdhAunspecified are outwardly indistinguishable from wild-type controls. Photoreceptor cell synaptic terminals are formed in the mutant eyes, but they degenerate progressively in the late pupal and adult stages.
