      hbs1/hbs1, hbs1/hbs459 and hbs1/hbs2593 adults have rough eyes.

      hbs1/hbs1 and hbs1/Df(2R)δ12 pupal/pharate adult animals have a low incidence of fused ommatidia and wrong numbers of cone cells per ommatidium (<2.5% ommatidia) and a higher incidence of abnormal contacts between cone cells (>40% ommatidia). Adults have a low incidence of tissue polarity defects (~4% ommatidia).
