    Expression of Dip3C00008 under the control of either Scer\GAL4elav.PLu or Scer\GAL4sv.PJ has no effect on eye patterning.

    Expression of Dip3C00008 under the control of either Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, Scer\GAL4hs.2sev or Scer\GAL4lz-gal4 results in smooth eyes that lack well-defined ommatidia.

    Eyes of adults expressing Dip3C00008 under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev have a reduced distance between the rhabdomere clusters and reduced numbers of rhabdomeres compared to wild type. Most ommatidia of mid-pupal eyes contain an extra cone cell and an extra primary pigment cell as well as fewer than the normal eight photoreceptors. Late pupal eye discs of these animals show increased cell death compared to wild type in inter-ommatidial cells but not in photoreceptor or cone cells.

    Expression of Dip3C00008 under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 results in frequent loss of cross veins and truncation of longitudinal veins in the wing.

    The smooth eye phenotype caused by expression of Dip3C00008 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF is partially suppressed by Nl1N-ts1 at 29[o]C; more interommatidial bristles and a clear demarcation between the ommatidia are seen.
