Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a complex rearrangement that deletes 193bp of genomic DNA (nucleotides -181 to +12 relative to the Gprk2 transcription start site), and at the site of this deletion adds an inverted portion of Gprk2 intron 1 (nucleotides +1442 to +7782 relative to the Gprk2 transcription start site) and a 22bp sequence upstream of Gprk2 (nucleotides -1644 to -1622 relative to the Gprk2 transcription start site). The sequences inserted at the site of the deletion are flanked by 32bp inverted repeats from the P-element. The 22bp upstream sequence contains sequences from the CG11337 gene.
Gprk2pj1 flies have a low electroantennogram response to ethyl acetate at ZT5 compared to wild-type flies.
