Expression of sharkdsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ under the control of either Scer\GAL4repo.PU or Scer\GAL4Mz709 strongly suppresses the recruitment of ensheathing glia membranes to severed olfactory receptor neuron axons after severing of the maxillary palp. Glial clearance of axonal debris from the central nervous system is blocked in these animals. Expression of sharkdsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ under the control of Scer\GAL4alrm.PD has no effect on axon debris clearance after severing of the maxillary palp.

Glial membranes are not recruited to severed axons following ablation of maxillary palps in animals expressing sharkdsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ under the control of Scer\GAL4repo.PU, in contrast to control animals. Clearance of severed olfactory receptor neuron axons following ablation of maxillary palps appears to be suppressed in animals expressing sharkdsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ under the control of Scer\GAL4repo.PU.

Glial hypertrophy is also not seen after severing of antennal olfactory receptor neuron axons in animals expressing sharkdsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ under the control of Scer\GAL4repo.PU, in contrast to control animals.
