      In GluRIIASP16 mutant third instar larvae that also carry the precise excision allele ExnEY-5, the spontaneous miniature release amplitude (mepsp) is significantly decreased, as measured at the neuromuscular junctions. The decreased mepsp amplitude is partially offset by a homeostatic increase in presynaptic release (quantal content). These phenotypes, as expected for a revertant, appear identical to the GluRIIASP16 single mutant phenotypes.
