Description

Expression of of the nemy-RA transcript is significantly reduced, while expression of the remaining transcripts is unaffected.

Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a deletion that removes 743bp of the longest splice form of nemy, including the first exon.

nemy45/nemy45 third instar larvae show no significant change in the amplitude of miniature excitatory junction potentials (mEJPs), but did show a significant increase in mEJP frequency, at the neuromuscular junction compared to controls. nemy45/nemy45 larvae show a significant increase in amplitude of evoked EJPs and quantal content compared to controls. nemy45/nemy45 larvae do not show a significant change in bouton number at the NMJ compared to controls. Controls show mild paired pulse potentiation at short inster-stimulus intervals, whereas nemy45/nemy45 larvae show paired pulse depression.

Mutant flies show a significant defect in 3 hour memory (assayed 3 hours after a single training session in the odor-shock paradigm) compared to controls.
