Imprecise excision of P{unk}Y053 insertion, resulting in a deletion of protein coding sequences that encode the entire DNA-binding and ligand binding domains of Hr38. Sequences 3' of Hr38 are unaffected. This mutation also carries a small deletion removing part of the P{unk}Y053 element and adjacent 3' sequences that lie upstream from the 5' end of Hr38. Part of the original P-element remains, including w[+] along with genomic sequences that lie upstream from Hr38.
Hr38Y214/Df(2L)Fs(2)Ket-RX32 mutant pupae have differentiated adult structures. They display a cuticle melanization phenotype and hemolymph leakage, but are mostly normal.
