FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.
filopodium & embryonic leading edge cell
rough endoplasmic reticulum & embryonic dorsal epidermis
Mutant leading edge cells form fewer filopodia than wild type during dorsal closure.
Dorsal epidermal cells have an abnormal shape in stage 16 mutant embryos (being cobblestone-shaped with a convex surface, instead of the flat cuboidal cells seen in wild type). The cuticle layer is missing in these embryos. The rough endoplasmic reticulum is bloated in the mutant epidermal cell (it forms flat cisternae in wild-type embryos).
ghounspecified mutant embryos have undifferentiated cuticle with traces of mouthparts visible.
