The expression of HDAC3^JF01420 under the control of Scer\GAL4^Tk.PS leads to increased numbers of enteroendocrine cells and fewer lipid droplets in the adult anterior midgut, as well as increased lipid droplets in the adult fat body.

Expression of HDAC3^JF01420 under the control of either Scer\GAL4^nub.PK or Scer\GAL4^en.PU leads to occasional vein and wing morphology (blisters or posterior edge abnormalities, respectively) defects. Expression controlled by either Scer\GAL4^ey.PH or Scer\GAL4^GMR.PF has no overt adult phenotype. Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI-driven expression is viable.
