UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Knockdown of Chrac-14, through expression of Chrac-14JF01500 under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PS results in defects in chromosome condensation and separation, with dicentric chromosomes visible in 17% of mutant cells. In addition, 13% of Chrac-14-depleted cells also display chromosome breaks. These chromosome fragments do not appear to fuse and may consequently lead to defects during mitosis. Late blastoderm embryos depleted of Chrac-14 display mitotic defects, including anaphase bridges and lagging chromosomes.
