Scox^1rev25.2/Scox^SH1783 ovaries are smaller than wild type. Most of the ovariole strings contain egg chambers up to stage 9, and some (abnormally small) stage 10 egg chambers are found, but later stages are always degenerated. The migration of the border cells, and the columnar monolayer organization and integrity of the follicular epithelium in stage 10 egg chambers are not affected. The posterior movement of the epithelial sheet, which starts at stage 9 and ends at stage 10, is affected in Scox^1rev25.2/Scox^SH1783 mutants - many follicle cells remain over the nurse cells. And, in contrast to wild type, yolk is completely absent or barely detectable in the oocyte at late stages of oogenesis.

Scox^1rev25.2/Scox^SH1783 flies have reduced locomotor ability (running, climbing and flight) which becomes more pronounced with age.
